In 2005, Vanguard Space Technologies began development on the products that now comprise our solar power systems offering. We focused this development on specialized technologies that would solve the most challenging new requirements in next-generation spacecraft—high-power compact arrays, enhanced reliability through standardization and survivability to harsh environments. By 2008, transition-to-flight of these technologies had begun through Phase III Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) commercialization programs and solar panel flight experiments. This activity led to the development of Electromagnetically Clean Solar Array Panels, successfully offered for flight and now being qualified for use on NASA’s MMS missions. Our experienced team of solar power experts continues to create innovative power technologies and transition SBIR- and government-funded research and development from NASA, the AFRL and the MDA into mission-ready applications.
