Satellite imagery systems require stable structures to maintain alignment of sensitive optical components during launch and operation. Having supported NASA’s LRO, ABI and ATMS missions, Vanguard Space Technologies has established a legacy of delivering high-quality, dimensionally stable instrument structures. These structures—fabricated in a clean room environment—satisfy customer-specified, opto-mechanical requirements (including decenter, despace and tilt) for thermal soak, gradient, humidity change, gravity release, outgassing, strength and launch conditions. In many cases, the design trade space offered by composite materials leads to structural performance that is superior to beryllium.
Among the instrument structures we design and manufacture are:
- Optical Benches
- Telescope and Camera Structures
- Metering Struts
- Submillimeter Reflectors
- Stray Light Baffles and Sun Shades
